Concentration, learning or behaviour issues in children

Many children face difficulties when it comes to cognition, focus and retaining information. At times these issues may be coupled with hyperactivity, sleeping problems and eating or digestive complaints. The degree of these problems can range from very mild, up to extremely disruptive and distressing for both the child and the parents.

Although there are a great many factors to consider, but most often the gut or immune system are compromised in some way. 70% of immune cells live in the gut, meaning that even if your child is a ‘good eater’, disruptions in the brain-gut function create a change in nerve-firing, which can sometimes cause immune issues such as frequent infections, colds & flu, skin conditions, asthma and gastro bouts.

So what can be done?
In some cases, allergy or intolerance testing may be appropriate, depending on the severity and nature of symptoms, age of the child and medical history.

Ensuring a healthy gut environment through elimination of inflammatory foods, using specific nutrients and herbs to repair the gut, and provide potential missing vitamins & minerals to support cognition has proved very successful in many children.

BodyTalk, a non-invasive method of muscle checking and tapping techniques is also a great way to stimulate the mind-body complex, which in turn promotes optimum nerve firing, ‘re-booting’ the brain to reduce stress and improve concentration, and stimulate the body’s own healing potential. The knock-on effects of this are seen in both physical and emotional wellbeing. BodyTalk is safe for all from newborn onwards.

As a qualified naturopath, nutritionist and BodyTalk practitioner, I love to work with children experiencing cognition, emotional and learning problems, finding a combination of the right treatment along with BodyTalk to be frequently effective.

A consult will help establish your child’s needs, refer for testing if deemed necessary, and provide information on diet changes, appropriate products & BodyTalk.
